Management solutions for the pediatric practice
Office Practicum EMR/PMS is specifically designed with unique features for pediatricians. The knowledge and
insight used in the design of these features comes from an understanding and awareness of the needs of
today's pediatricians. When designing the program, we at Connexin Software, Inc consider the most important input and
essential sources: the experience, and opinions of our current pediatric users, and the pediatricians working
on the Connexin Software, Inc team.
The Office Practicum EMR offers the following solutions to pediatricians:
Lighten the load! A selection of standard School and Camp Forms are already formatted and ready in the program.
When summer rolls around hundreds of camp forms will only mean minutes of work instead of hours or days.
In the click of a button all the relevant information is pulled from the system, transferred into the data fields and printed on a clean, legible form.
Connexin Software, Inc, can help you incorporate specialized forms into your program.
No more need for sticky yellow notes, forgetting to return a call, or interrupting the patient visit with a message or question from another staff member.
The message center in Office Practicum keeps a log of incoming and returned calls, and performs phone ‘triage’ so that you can prioritize messages, streamline your work, and maximize your time.
Remote access also allows you to complete calls, review messages, and read emails, all from the comfort of home!
Stop searching through stacks of files, and free-up much-needed office space occupied with cumbersome filing cabinets.
All documents and information is available in a simple click and stored in a single database!
Save on storage, filing cabinets, paper, photocopying, and tedious hours spent searching and filing - Office Practicum can scan and store vast amounts of files, which can be linked to patient charts, referral letters and other relevant stored information for easy access and retrieval.
With Office Practicum, doctors can write extensive and thorough notes with the easy aid of the
phrase construction system. It is capable of very detailed medical descriptions and can be modified on
the fly.
Office Practicum comes equipped with pre-prepared, pediatric-specific templates, and common descriptors with pertinent positives and negatives for clinical problems and diagnostic workups.
Unlike other systems that restrict doctors to a limited number of words, or to using the phrases and ‘words’ stored in the program, Office Practicum allows doctors to create their own templates and personalize their note as much as they wish.
The Office Practicum prescription writer contains hundreds of medications and their usual dosages. Each provider can easily modify the system to store their most frequently-written prescriptions.
No more phone calls from pharmacists trying to decipher illegible handwriting!
With a single-click prescriptions can be written, automatically entered into the medication chronology, in the encounter note, medications displayed in the pertinent fields of the patient chart screen, and faxed or printed in a simple, legible format (as many as four per standard, letter-sized page) for the pharmacist’s attention.
The Office Practicum prescription form can be tailored and designed according to your preferences, complete with practice name, address and logo, and provider signature.
The Office Practicum Vaccine Inventory stores manufacturer names, lot numbers and expiration dates.
As a dose is given,
it is subtracted from the Vaccine Inventory and the number and expiration date are entered into the patient's
medical record.
Administered vaccines are automatically transferred to the billing system, the Vaccine
Summary sheets and, in NYC, to the immunization registry file (as other registries become available the program will be customized – please Contact Us for more information).
You will never have to decipher the delicate and difficult immunization schedule again!
Office Practicum’s exclusive vaccine algorithm VacLogic calculates, forecasts, and explains the provision of future, past-due, and multiple vaccinations.
Notifications in the patient chart and in the schedule alert providers and support staff to due-vaccines so that scheduling punctual appointments is effortless.
A Vaccine Forecast can also be compiled and printed for parents as a report, or calendar, informing them of future vaccines and serving as an excellent, helpful reminder to schedule and attend appointments.
‘Recall lists’ can be generated for individual, or multiple vaccines, to show any and all patients that are behind in their immunizations so the provider can be instantly updated on the status of every patient in the practice.
The Office Practicum Vaccine Inventory stores manufacturer names, lot numbers and expiration dates. As each dose is given, it is automatically subtracted from the inventory and the corresponding number and expiration date is entered into the patient’s medical record.
Vaccines and their associated administrative codes are also entered automatically into the Superbill.
A record of administered vaccines is automatically transferred to the billing system, the Vaccine Summary report, and in NYC, to the immunization registry file.
Office Practicum can also produce various VFC (Vaccines for Children) reports making compliance and reporting an effortless procedure that guarantees results.
No more lost billing opportunities! Office Practicum helps you track and find every billable
encounter and service.
An on-screen superbill is as easy to use as check boxes on a piece of paper.
This feature facilitates communication between the exam room and the billing desk and reduces delays
in preparing claims.
Time-saving steps make entering payments, reconciling explanations of benefits and
resubmitting claims fast and simple.
Office Practicum EMR/PMS has been designed with scrupulous attention to the legal requirements demanded
of all practitioners.
Chart and record integrity is ensured as all modifications to the patient’s record are saved in a secure audit trail which records the information before and after changes or edits are made, and the identity (through unique passwords and individual system IDs) of the person who made the change. The audit trail entry is additionally time-stamped and given a unique serial number.
The referral
and diagnostic test tracking features of Office Practicum allow doctors to document any and all
efforts to follow up on problems, notify patients of test results and produce immunization recall letters.
Patient privacy is an essential characteristic of an ethical and professional pediatric practice, and an
essential element in protecting against medical malpractice.
Office Practicum has several features designed to ensure patient privacy enabling all staff members to do their part in maintaining the high standards required by HIPAA.
The Disclosure Tracking feature of Office Practicum creates a record of any patient information that is printed or ‘disclosed’ from the system.
In the case of system documents, such as school and camp forms, to ensure maximum privacy, each form is limited to the required information only to uphold HIPAA regulations.
